Thymol belongs to the group family of monoterpenoid phenol. It can also be termed as 2 – isopropyl or 5 –methylphenol. It has a chemical formula C10H14O. It has strong antiseptic properties and pleasant aromatic odour. It has a boiling point of over 232°C. It is actively present in pesticide products, commonly used for animal repellents, medical disinfectant and further more. It is advisable to not to swallow or intake it. Ingestion of such chemical can cause nausea, vomiting, cardiac arrests and further more. It is used in tuberculosis as well.
