Ajowan is a spice native primarily to India and traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine. It is its seeds, which are very much reminiscent of the taste of thyme, which are steam distilled to give birth to the essential oil of Ajowan, rich in many virtues.

In the traditional Indian pharmacopeia, this essential oil is used to take care of the digestive sphere, it also acts against internal parasites or to soothe sore throats.

It is primarily used orally for its broad-spectrum anti-infective and antibacterial benefits. Therefore, it is also invigorating in general and also good for digestion.

Ajowan essential oil is an important antibacterial agent, used against winter illnesses, infectious digestive disorders, and parasites. In external use and after dilution with vegetable oil, it is useful as an analgesic for joint pain.
